Kuching, Sarawak – Business with Adventure
26 – 30 June 2013
Sarawak Convention Bureau has much to show off in Kuching, Sarawak, East Malaysia – a land of rainforests, rivers, orang utans, nature, music, culture, food and soul.
I was privileged to spend a few days of experiencing life in Kuching as a destination for business, business events, music, culture and leisure. It has a world class Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, beautiful tourist attractions and an interesting ethnic mix of people. I was privileged to meet people from the Iban, Bidayuh and the Orang Ulu ethic groups.
There is lot to see, with main attractions being, the Sarawak Museum, Semenggoh Nature Reserve, Sarawak Cultural Village and much more. I was able to experience a day at the Rainforest World music festival, which was attended by more than 5000 visitors. A magical experience was felt just by being amongst its people and the rainforest, More importantly, I felt as if I had replenished my soul when I kayaked for 11 km through the rain forests along the river that meanders through nature, fresh air, blue skies and beauty.
I felt like I was in the same rainforest as in the movie Avatar. If you have seen the movie Avatar, you would know what I mean. I came away feeling that I have just stepped into and out of a land of friendly people and a culture that leaves you wanting to go back.
It is easy to get there via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur if you are flying from Sydney. Special thanks to Michael Canon and his amazing team for their great hospitality.
