Why celebrating success is important

Why celebrating success is important
It goes without saying, but celebrating success is good for your business. Celebrating small achievements creates sustainability in business growth. It gives oxygen to the life in the business. It is good for the employees, clients and the employer too. The benefits of celebrating success extend beyond that. Celebrating success in your business can actually be good for your community, your city and your industry. Often we see a whole community or a city beam with pride when a major innovation is promoted as a success story from that city.
I have been talking to various people and organisations about why they celebrate success. The reasons cited include:
· For the morale of the employees, recognising their contribution to the success.
· To instill confidence in their customers and stakeholders by showing that they have positive news to share.
· To reward and appreciate and energise the team for the next challenge.
· To make time to reflect on the achievement and leverage on its success.
· To promote the awareness of the city and community where the business is based.
· To promote the awareness of the industry.
· To break with routine to stimulate creativity and fun.
There are many more endless reasons why celebrating success is good for your business Celebrating small wins and victories with the team is definitely a key ingredient in sustainable long-term growth in business. But are business owners good at celebrating success? How do SME business owners celebrate success?
Here are some ways that SMEs celebrate their success:
· Enter a business awards program. Just entering will give you a sense of celebrating your achievements. Being a finalist is already a mark of celebrating success. Winning is celebrating success at an even higher level, and sharing your success with others.
· Tell your story. Document it. Or you can blog, use social media or talk to your local media or industry association.
· Take a holiday or a mini break.
· Hold a celebratory event with your team. Have fun and laugh a lot.
· Do something different, donate to a charity or volunteer at food patrols to feed the homeless or help the less fortunate.
· Say thanks to your support network, your team, your clients, your sponsors, your family and loved ones.
In the midst of all the celebration of success of the finalists and winners at the recent 2012 My Business Awards, we also proudly announced our celebration of success and the first-year anniversary for the SME Association of Australia.
Celebrating our success and our first anniversary as an association with our team, our members, our sponsors and supporters at this year’s My Business Awards was certainly a good way to pause and reflect on the SMEAA’s achievements in its inaugural year, before moving headlong into year two.
for the continuing growth of the association.
It was only one year ago that the SME Association of Australia was launched at the 2011 My Business Awards gala dinner event.
I have not stopped re- telling Tina Tower’s amazing story of how she had been a Finalist 23 times for her business, Begin Bright, and finally won two Awards for the first time in 2012! Tina’s story remains a great Aussie example of a battler, a resilient young woman who never gave up but continuously worked on her business until she became the Best Business Award winner and the Best Woman in Business Award winner. Tina actually celebrated her success 23 times as a Finalist before she got the big ones.
Celebrating success is definitely good for your business. It pays to know why, how and make time to celebrate in order to build sustainable long term success for your business
