Let’s get behind Vinnies to be part of the solution to eradicate homelessness in australia.  Thank you to my friends and colleagues who have donated and have been supporting this worthy cause each year.

Did you know that more than 17,000 Australian children under the age of 12 have no home, representing 17% of the overall homeless population?

It’s been 10 years, we need $10million and  there are 100,000 reasons to support the Vinnies CEO Sleepout event.

The CEO Sleepout this year will be held on 18 June. Fund raising and awareness activities have been ongoing across Australia. We cannot ignore this insidious social issue happening right in an affluent beautiful lucky country like Australia.

Joining hundreds of CEOs and business leaders, including Mick Boyle, Bernard Fehon, Nicholas Gray, Malcolm Turnbull, Alison Watkins, Martine Jager, Ellie Comerford, Holly Kramer, David Masterton, Tom Southern, Adam Bennet, Peter Bader, Scott Leney, Michael Perusco and others, it will be my 6th year of participation.

It is an ongoing commitment prior to and after the event, to continue to raise awareness and necessary funds, to impact change in attitudes, policies and actions in society to enable collaboration for better solutions for a better future for Australia.

As I am doing this, I am also remembering my good buddy and friend, Ashley Spencer who started this journey with me in 2010.

Ashley sadly lost his battle to cancer and passed away on 18 April 2015. We all remember him fondly. Not only was he, the VP of Hilton Worlwide and a family man, he was a caring an compassionate soul and friend to many around the world whose lives he touched as a hotelier, business leader and friend. Ashley, R.I,P.

Our society is judged not only by our success and wealth, but, by how we look after the disadvantaged and less privileged.

Some of the services offered by NSW Vinnies include:
• Support of vocational education and employment programs delivered through the Ozanam Learning Centre, which includes living skills classes and creative activities including art, pottery, writing and music.
• Fund the planned roll out of the successful Ozanam Learning Centre model to a regional centre in NSW.
• Fund food and accommodation services for people experiencing homelessness.
• Provision of crisis and affordable medium-term accommodation to support individuals and families achieve sustainability in their lives.
