This day has made many people in China and Australia feel a strong outburst of emotions.
For the average Australian and Chinese, the signing of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement brings many different implications for diverse sectors and industries. There will be more opportunities for trade and business, and the creation of more jobs.
Both countries will benefit and over time, the people in Australia and China will enjoy even stronger relationships and ties.
I am so proud of my ancestry originating from China, two generations ago. As an Asian Chinese Australian, today is a proud day, one that deserves many joyous celebrations from here on. Congratulations to all the people, businesses, government and political leaders who have worked hard to make this CHAFTA happen.
